Not All Wholesalers are Created Equally!!

Okay, I debated whether or not I was going to share this with you because, to be honest, I'm embarrassed and I feel stupid!

I received an email that said "Digital Camera Blowout Sale - 8-12 Brand New Digital Camera Lot - $149.00"

It sounded good! At most I'd spend $18.63 if I only got 8 and $12.42 if I got 12. I figured no matter what I got, surely I'd be able to turn a profit and make a few bucks. After all, at that price, how could I not make a profit?

I was wrong! When the cameras arrived and I tore into the box, hopeful that maybe I actually got a good deal, I was sorely disappointed. I immediately recognized the camera as a cheesy camera I had purchased many YEARS back at Walmart for $19.95 and I was unhappy with it then. I did a search on eBay and immediately found the exact same cameras listed for a Buy-It-Now price of $9.95 and selling even cheaper on auction type listings. No matter how I looked at it, I had just thrown my money away. Sure, I could list them like I saw some other people listing them with an outrageous amount for shipping, trying to recoup my investment. But, to be honest, I wouldn't give one of these cameras away to anyone but maybe a little kid, and even then, I'd feel it necessary to apologize while doing so.

I should have known better but it sounded good AND I figured this would give me the opportunity to check out this supposed "Wholesaler" and so I could tell you about it. I really hoped to be able to tell you GOOD things about my experience. I was hoping to be able to definitively tell you there are good wholesalers out there. But, looking back, I should have known. The website is very amateur and looks like it was designed by a kid. That should have told me something. However, a website can be beautifully designed and well maintained and still offer bad "wholesale" deals.

I did contact the "Wholesaler" and let him know how disappointed I was. I asked to return them and I was told that I would have to pay a 35% restocking fee to do so... His customer service skills were also lacking to say the least. So, after some thought, I went through their support page again and asked for an RMA. I did this 3 times, even willing to pay their restocking fee just so as not to lose as much money. All 3 times, my support tickets were ignored.

That's why I'm here to tell you, while you may have to lose some money trying to find good "wholesalers" on your own... you don't really have to. Fortunately, I only lost $150 (plus shipping) but I learned a valuable lesson that I can pass on to you.

Don't throw your money away like I did! If you want to find true wholesalers and dropshippers, there is only ONE Source and that's Worldwide Brands. They have a whole team of people who check out every source before they are added to their site. Yes, there is a cost involved in gaining access to the list, but it's well worth the price of admission!

Read all about it at: http://www.best-wholesale-sources.com

It looks like they are running a special right now and offering $30 off (I don't know how long this will last) but, if you use the following URL to order, you'll get another $10.00 off just for being a subscriber of Auction Riches!

(In the meantime, I have a few cameras sitting here in a box. Make me an offer I can't refuse and I'll pass them on to you!)

You can trust these guys! I've been doing business with them for years and I know for a fact that they are upright and reputable.

If you have any "wholesale" experiences to share. Any good ones, any bad ones.... please feel free to comment below.

Robbin

The exact same thing happened to me. WHen I opened the box of cmeras I was extremely disappointed. I am not sure how to market these since good quality cameras are coming down in price.

Don't feel bad Robbin I too have gotten ripped off from supposedly honest wholesalers. When I first started out selling sunglasses I responded to an ad offering shelf pulls on name brand sunglasses oakley, rayban, etc.
I called the # and talked to the guy and he also so told me what name brands they where. He would only take money orders on first time shipments, so I sent him a $700 money order next day air. After not receiving my order after a week I called back and got his voice mail I told him I had not received them and was wanting them for an event I was attending, the event came and went, I called several times still getting his voice mail. By then I was thinking I got ripped off, finally I received 3 boxes. I hurriedly opened them only to find out they where just cheap sunglasses that I could have bought @.50 cents ea.
There was no way I could retail them for what I paid wholesale, so I just threw them on a shelf and went on.
Finally when I started selling on ebay I sold all 300 pair at a drastically reduced price, I got enough that I was able to purchase from a very honest wholesaler to break even from the retail price I was able to get. ( I told my ebay customers of the quality before they bought, they all where happy with their purchases and they paid a fair price)
I still buy from this same honest wholesaler and he is close enough that I can drive to his store to look at what I am buying before I pay for them. A happy ending, hope you have the same.

Hi Robin, I know that you didn't mention the wholesaler in your eMail, however, I'm assuming that it is the same guy that took $1400.00 from me for 6 Wii machines and never delivered the product. I submitted 6 support tickets only to have four of them completely ignored and to be lied to on the other two. To make a long story short, I ordered these on 01-01-08 and to date I have not received the Wii's. I copied and pasted his answer to my last support ticket(it took him three weeks to give me this answer)

Charlie,

We apologize for these products. We recently changed merchant accounts and are not allowed to refund those orders. If you could call your credit card company and do a charge back they will help you with getting your money.
Thank you,

My credit card company says it might take two or more months to get my money back. . . WHAT A RIP!!!!

I left his name out of the post, but I will be more than happy to name this so called wholesale company if you would permit it. Just let me know. By the way. . . The owner is a first class IDIOT

Thanks for letting me sound off, I feel a little better.

Thanks for sharing Charlie. My guess is it's the same company because I've seen their Wii ads.

You have to ask yourself.... "WHY did they change merchant accounts?!" My guess is most likely they had no choice - the merchant company probably got tired of dealing with the complaints and chargebacks.
